Music Ministries

Welcome to the Music Ministries Department at Avondale United Methodist Church!  It is our hope that everyone who participates in the music ministries program is challenged to grown in Christ and to experience God's unconditional love through the lvoe of music that we all share.

Whether you are a professional musician or just a lover of music, we have a place for you!  Please take a moment to review the many programs we have to offer and to prayerfully consider what God would have you do with the musical gift that has been given to you.

 

Chancel Choir

 

Chancel Choir is made up of a group of people who love to sing.  Some have some training in music, some sing only in the shower and some can barely read a note, but they all love to make music.  Along with making music, they love to be ministers to the congregation.

Practices are at 7:00pm Wednesdays in the Music Room across from the Fellowship Hall. The Chancel Choir sings meets at 10:30 on Sunday mornings to sing during the 11:00 worship service.

In addition to singing in morning worship, we do major works with added instrumentation or accompaniment tracks during Easter or Christmas.  We also enjoy many fellowship activities together.

 

There are many great reasons to join—come join us, use your God-given talent, be prepared to make friends and have tons of fun!

■         You do not have to be a church member

■         You don’t have to have perfect pitch

■         You don’t have to audition

■         Your commitment is a 1½ hour rehearsal on Wednesday nights and singing in at least one service on Sundays.
 

 

 

Handbells at Avondale

 

 

Avondale United Methodist Church currently has two handbell choirs for musicians of all ages and abilities.  Our choirs strive to participate musically and spiritually in the worship services at Avondale.  We reach out to the community several times a year, perform a Christmas concert at the neighborhood Luminaria Festival and love travelling and participating in handbell festivals.

Explore bell ringing by joining one our ongoing groups at any time.  Bells are a wonderful way to use your musical talents to praise the Lord.  

 

The Youth Handbell Choir is open to grades 4-12 and rehearses on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm.  The Chancel Handbell Choir is open to Youth and Adults grade 10 and up and rehearses Sunday afternoons from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm.
 

Children’s Choir

 

The Children’s Choir at Avondale United Methodist Church allow children to:

■         Learn to worship God through the power of music

■         Use their gifts for the ministry of the church

■         To experience the joy of creatively communicating the gospel of Christ  

 

We rehearse during the school year on Wednesday Evenings from 6:00pm-7:00pm, and we work toward presenting a musically drama twice a year.  All rehearsals take place in the Music Room.

Contemporary Music: MOSAIC

MOSAIC Praise Team focuses on leading contemporary worship music for the 8:45 am Sunday Contemporary Worship Service.  MOSAIC is your opportunity to get involved and use your gifts to glorify the Lord!

Whether you are a professional musician or a music lover, a vocalist or an instrumentalist, have much or little time available to offer -- we would love to find a place for you to serve with our Praise Team!  We look forward to welcoming you to the MOSAIC family!  Our hope and prayer is that this will be a "home" for you within our  church to serve, make great new friends, and grow spiritually, musically and as worship leaders!

MOSAIC Praise team

MOSAIC Praise Team is an exciting opportunity at Avondale for those with hearts for singing and worship!  The rehearsal schedule 7:00pm each Tuesday in the Sanctuary, and at 8:00 am to warm-up for the 8:45 Service.  The atmosphere is fun and the music is simple and worshipful, and members do not need to read or memorize music.  We have positions for both vocalists and instrumentalists (keyboards, guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums).  So if you are interested in participating, please email Ted Munn and we'll make sure you get connected!  This is a wonderful way to serve at Avondale!
